If you've met me (Guna Bilane - Lead Nutritionist here at Weight Loss Riga) then you might be familiar with my philosophy that there's no 'perfect diet'.

People should eat what they like and what suits their lifestyle within certain parameters.

Forming healthy habits is really important if you want to achieve sustainable weight loss and weight maintenance.

But often it's quite easy to make unhealthy food choices because we're are busy with work and grab something quickly on the go.

So I sat down to write this article and share my 'no nonsense' breakfast recipe, a recipe I prepare to ensure my family’s day always starts right....

My signature ‘whole grain oat bars’

They don’t require cooking and can be prepared the night before, frozen and lifted out in the morning to pick up and enjoy on the go.

Have a go at making them yourself using the recipe below

How to prepare my signature whole grain oat bars:

Mix all the ingredients except the berries together in a food processor.

You can leave part of the oats uncut and stir them in at the end, together with the coconut flakes and the freeze-dried berries.

Spread the mixture onto a tray lined with baking paper, then roughly cut them into bars.

There are then two options:

  • Place the tray in the freezer, or
  • Bake in the oven at 180C for 30-40 minutes

The oat bars can be stored in the fridge for three days or in the freezer for up to two weeks.
